Helping to preserve ancient Australian rainforest together.

Fundraising with Half-Cut.

With every painting sold, together we are buying back the equivalent area of Australian rainforest to be protected from development and preserved as part of the Daintree National Park.

When you look at a painting you can know that the equivalent area contains a tree, a colony of ants, or a butterfly flying through the canopy overhead! Your painting embodies something beautiful beyond what inhabits your space. I get to further integrate my passion into my work and connect imagination to reality. Collectively as a planet, everyone benefits from preserving more trees, the oxygen they respire, the incredible biodiversity of this rainforest and its role as a carbon sink.

The Daintree Lowand Rainforest is one of the oldest rainforests on earth, having survived undisturbed for over 120 million years..

Half cut is working with the Rainforest 4 Foundation and the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation to buy back land of high conservation value to protect it from residential development.

This land will be incorporated into the Daintree National Park and managed by the Traditional Owners of Daintree Rainforest - the Eastern Kuku Yalanji. Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation represents the Eastern Kuku Yalanji and employs rangers who co-manage the Daintree National Park.

Instead of planting a tree for a painting sold, or something similar. We can protect precious rainforest from being destroyed in the first place, along with the incredible wildlife it supports!

What I am doing.

For all the paintings I create, I am calculating their surface area, and setting aside artworks to act as direct donations to this fund. If you see an artwork listed as a ‘fundraiser artwork’, this is one such artwork. I am rounding up to the nearest metre, so at a minimum even the smallest painting will be equivalent to and protect one square metre of rainforest. This includes any artwork from my hands - original paintings, drawings and limited edition fine art prints.

I am only just commencing this as of April 2022, so it is in the early stages. However I am working towards buying back the equivalent area of rainforest for every single painting I have ever sold over the last 10 years. So each one of my paintings and collectors are included no matter the date of purchase.

Then I will tackle on the next step to build on this concept, as this is just a beginning.

How it works.

Instead of paying me for the price of the ‘fundraiser’ artwork, I ask that you purchase the artwork for $0 via my online shop to reserve it under your name. Then you can donate the specified amount directly to Half Cut (dollar amount and link provided in artwork listing). You can then email your proof of transfer for your donation to me. I will confirm this donation (via my fundraising account with Half Cut and a proof of donation receipt you email to me). I will then post your painting as per your details at checkout! This way every cent of the money has gone direct to the organization doing the work, with full transparency and no double-handling. Donations to HalfCut over $2 are tax deductible too!

Please note, this applies only to artworks specifically listed as ‘fundraising artworks’. Please do NOT donate the equivalent amount of just any artwork of mine as this will be considered a donation ONLY, you will not receive the painting. I still need to sell the majority of my work art is my main income at this time.
